Fudge Nut Bars
Mark brought this recipe home from school when he was in fourth grade. Someone brought it for a birthday treat and the kids liked it so much Mrs. Crisp sent copies of the recipe home!. This makes a LARGE batch of bars and they're delicious.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups quick-cooking oats
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Instructions
Cream together the butter and brown sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt and add to the creamer mixture together with the oats. Spread 2/3 of the mixture in a jellyroll pan. Butter together and cook over boiling water until smooth. (Or microwave.) Stir in the salt, nuts, and vanilla. Spread the filling over the oatmeal mix and bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes.
