Mandarin Orange Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 8 oz. can Mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

Combine all ingredients, except nuts, and beat 2 to 3 minutes. Then add nuts. Put in an 8" x 8" pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes. While baking, mix 3/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, and 3 tablespoons milk. Bring to a full boil and set aside. Pour slowly over the hot cake when you remove it from the oven. Serve with whipped cream or cool whip.
