Old-fashioned English Toffee

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon white corn syrup
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 small milk chocolate candy bars, broken up
Instructions
Butter a 9 inch square pan and sprinkle with half of the nuts. In a heavy pan, cook butter, sugar, syrup and water to 300° on a candy thermometer. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Quickly pour mixture over nuts in pan and spread evenly. Cookie is melted, or microwave in pieces and store in an air-tight container.
