Sugar Cookies (End-of-the-month)

Ingredients

• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup Crisco
• 1 egg
• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Drop on cookie sheet and press with a fork or "fancy-bottomed" glass. Bake at 350° until brown on bottom (about 12 minutes).
